I met Andy through the DPP where he helped to take on the grand challenge of sorting out the woes of metadata in the news the industry. Andy and I enjoyed many regular visits to the coffee shops around BBC HQ - often treating me to some of the fancy brews on offer. His generosity, calm and gentlemanly manner will be remembered fondly. 

He will be dearly missed.
