Dear Sara I wanted to express my shock and sorrow at hearing the news about Andy. I remember him fondly. It utterly stinks that he died so young. I'll always remember his positivity and the eventful journey we shared through AFX, Thomson and then Reuters. The development of editorial systems at Thomson, which he led, was an impressive process. I witnessed him going from strength to strength during that time. He became so good at collaborating with editorial people, which is a rare skill in the tech world. I think I only truly appreciated him and what we did together when I witnessed a similar, but rather more lumbering process at Reuters. We need more like him right now, not fewer. Love to you x. I met Andy a few years ago when an email dropped into my inbox from him asking to come and have a chat about pictures systems within the BBC. I was immediately struck by his optimism and positivity and by just what a genuinely nice guy he was. Since then our paths crossed every so often and most recently I worked with him on The Grid project. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and I was so sad to hear he had passed away – he really was one of life’s good guys. Anna (BBC Pictures)
